Shipping & delivery

How quickly will my order ship?

In-stock items are prepared for dispatch within 1–3 business days. Some pieces are produced on demand after you order – in that case, the production time is shown on the product page. You’ll see the estimated total delivery time at checkout.

What does shipping cost?
  • Germany: €3.90 by letter, €5.00 by parcel – free from €34.99
  • EU: €6.90 by letter, €10.00 by parcel – free from €34.99
  • International: €8.90 by letter, €20.00 by parcel – free from €100

Whether an order ships as a letter or a parcel depends on the items. The exact amount is shown at checkout before you pay.

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship from Germany to all EU countries as well as to Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the USA. Your country isn’t listed? Just get in touch.

How is my order packed and shipped?

Flat items such as signed photographs and artifact display cards are carefully packed and sent by Deutsche Post as a tracked letter or registered mail. Pieces worth €75 or more always travel as an insured parcel. Framed prints, acrylic displays and combination editions ship as parcels with carriers such as DHL, UPS, DPD or FedEx.

Will I get tracking information?

Yes. As soon as your order is on its way, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation by email – including a tracking link for parcels and tracked letters.

Will I have to pay customs duties?

Not within the EU. Orders to countries outside the EU are shipped DAP (Delivered at Place): import duties, taxes and fees are not included in our prices and are charged separately by the customs authority or the carrier – usually before or on delivery.

What if my parcel arrives damaged?

If the packaging is visibly damaged, please have it noted by the courier if possible and take photos. Then email us at info@thenewspaceage.com so we can handle it with the carrier. This doesn’t affect your statutory warranty rights.

Authenticity

Is the flown material genuine?

Yes. Our flown pieces are individually certified and/or come from trusted sources such as Ken Havekotte (Space Coast Cover Service, Merritt Island, Florida), Sandy Clarkson (The Right Stuff, Inc.) and our network of dealers, collectors and museums. Every piece meets our authenticity standard: thorough documentation, provenance checks and full transparency. Our displays, for example, carry a laser-engraved certification on the back.

How we verify every piece

What does “flown” mean?

Flown material has actually been to space on board a spacecraft – for example payload bay liner, thermal blankets or Kapton foil from Space Shuttle and Apollo missions. Each product names its mission, e.g. STS-82 (Discovery).

Space Shuttle material was removed and replaced after a mission and may even have flown on several missions – so the mission we name is the last known mission of the piece.

Are the autographs authentic?

We sell genuine autographs – no replicas. We clearly label any piece with an autopen signature. Our autographs come from the collection of Tasillo Römisch: world record holder, founder of Space Service International and one of the most dedicated private collectors of spaceflight artifacts in the German-speaking world. As with all our pieces, we place great importance on verifying the provenance of our autographs. Questions about a specific piece? Ask us.

Products & care

How are the displays made?

The walnut wood and acrylic plates are laser-cut and engraved in our own workshop in Germany. Every display is then assembled by hand and inspected before it ships.

See how we make them

Are all displays identical?

No. Wood is a natural material, so grain and colour vary slightly – and every flown fragment differs in shape and texture. That makes each display one of a kind.

Can I open the display?

Technically yes, but we don’t recommend it – the fragment is best protected when the display stays closed.

Please keep the display away from children: the screws are small parts and could be swallowed.

How do I care for my display?

Acrylic is softer than glass and scratches easily, so clean it only with a soft microfibre cloth – never with paper towels or abrasive cleaners. Keep the wood dry and out of direct sunlight to prevent fading or warping, and store the display in a cool, dry, dust-free place.

Which paper and inks do you use?

Our fine art prints are produced in-house on Hahnemühle fine art paper with archival pigment inks – for rich colours, deep blacks and long-lasting stability. Special formats such as acrylic blocks are described on the product page.

Who creates the artwork?

Our space art is created by Sina Rathai – known as Art of a Space Nerd – co-founder of The New Space Age. Each piece combines technical detail with storytelling about real missions and spacecraft.

What is a Signature Edition?

A Signature Edition combines an original artwork by Art of a Space Nerd with genuine flown material from historic Apollo and Space Shuttle missions. Some are limited editions, individually numbered and – where applicable – signed and accompanied by documentation or certificates of authenticity for the flown parts.
