Space collector. Record holder. Founder of Space Service Intl.
Tasillo Römisch is widely regarded as one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable private collectors of spaceflight artifacts in the German-speaking world.
His passion began with the Moon landing in 1969 and evolved into a lifelong mission to preserve and share the material legacy of human space exploration. With a collection of nearly 100,000 items – from flown items over rare photographs to personal belongings of astronauts– Römisch advises institutions, curates exhibitions, and delivers lectures. So far he has held over 2,700 of the latter! He founded Space Service International in 1990 and directs the Raumfahrtmuseum (space flight museum) Mittweida from 1992 up until this day. A member of the DGLR and a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society, his expertise is recognized internationally. In 2023, his work was portrayed in the acclaimed German documentary “Der Mann, der nie im All war” (“The Man Who Never Went To Space”). Römisch also got awarded the “Silver Meridian” by the German aerospace journal “Raumfahrt Concret” for his achievements in and contributions to the spaceflight community in 2024.
