


STS-41-G (Challenger) display with flown AFRSI Blanket
Own an authentic piece of Space Shuttle Challenger‘s STS-41-G mission, during which the first American spacewalk by a woman (Kathryn Sullivan) was conducted. This collectible contains a genuine flown AFRSI blanket fragment, material that helped protect Challenger from extreme heat .
The flown fragment is preserved in a laser-engraved wooden display with acrylic cover (6x9cm), featuring the official STS-41-G mission patch, orbiter Challenger (OV-099), a spacewalking astronaut and full mission details.
STS-41G launched on October 5, 1984, and returned on October 13, 1984, completing 133 orbits around Earth. The mission featured the first American woman to perform a spacewalk, as well as the first Earth Radiation Budget Satellite deployment. During STS-41-G, the crew conducted scientific research in Earth observation, astronomy, and orbital operations.
Handmade by The New Space Age in Germany. Size and shape of the flown piece may vary. Although it is possible to remove the screws and disassemble the display we advise you not to do so since the flown piece might get lost. Clean only with a microfiber cloth.
