Aleksandr Volkov was born on May 27, 1948, in Horlivka, Ukraine. A veteran cosmonaut, he flew three missions: Soyuz T-14, Soyuz TM-7, and Soyuz TM-13, spending over 391 days in space. His final mission took place during the collapse of the Soviet Union, making him one of the last Soviet cosmonauts. Volkov also participated in key operations aboard Mir and helped train future crews. He was named Hero of the Soviet Union and later worked in the Russian space program. His son, Sergey Volkov, also became a cosmonaut, forming one of the first father-son pairs in space history.
