Space Shuttle Launch - Fine Art Print & Flown Fragment
Vibrant watercolor fine art print (21x15cm) by space artist Sina Rathai (@artofaspacenerd) of Space Shuttle Columbia during launch. Handsigned & handwritten by the artist. Printed on high-quality Hahnemühle paper with archival pigment ink, making it nearly indistinguishable from the original artwork. Contains a flown solar insulation blanket fragment from Space Shuttle mission STS-93 that spent 251 orbits in space.
STS-93 was a historic mission, launching on July 23, 1999, and marking the first time a woman – Commander Eileen Collins – commanded a Space Shuttle flight. Despite an early engine anomaly, Columbia successfully deployed the Chandra X-ray Observatory, one of NASA’s “Great Observatories,” opening an entirely new window to the high-energy universe. After nearly five days in orbit, Columbia gracefully glided back to Earth with a landing speed of 361 km/h.
Each flown piece is unique - size and shape may vary. Choose between a framed version or an unframed print in a protective folder.
