STS-84 display with flown gap filler
Own an authentic artifact from the Space Shuttle–Mir program with this flown fragment of a gap filler carried aboard STS-84, Atlantis (OV-104). Gap fillers were essential components of the Shuttle’s thermal protection system, designed to shield the orbiter during the intense heat of reentry — and this very piece spent time in orbit as part of that system.
The fragment is preserved in a premium laser-engraved wooden display (6x9cm) with a crystal-clear acrylic cover. The presentation features the official STS-84 mission patch, an outline of Shuttle Atlantis docked to the Russian Mir space station, and engraved mission data including launch and landing dates, distance traveled, and the total number of orbits.
STS-84 launched on May 15, 1997, and returned on May 24, 1997, completing 144 orbits and traveling 3.6 million miles.
Handmade by The New Space Age in Germany. Size and shape of the flown piece may vary. Although it is possible to remove the screws and disassemble the display we advise you not to do so since the flown piece might get lost. Clean only with a microfiber cloth.
